Double crown for Sania Mirza

HYDERABAD, JULY 28. India's Sania Mirza scored a grand double winning the girls singles title and later pairing with her compatriot Sasha Abraham won the doubles crown in the Movenpick international (grade III) junior world ranking tennis championships in Giza, Egypt on Saturday.

In a thrilling final, Sania won the singles title beating Sweden's Helena Norfeldt 3-6, 7-6 (13-11), 6-2. This is the second international girls singles title which the Hyderabadi lass has won.

The first international title she won in January last was the girls singles crown of the Bangladesh Open championship held in Dhaka.

Later in the doubles, Sania pairing with her Statemate Sasha Abraham outclassed the Egyptian pair of Khalifa Amani and Heidi Tacq at 6-3, 6-3 to score a grand double.

Sania came back from the brink of defeat to not only save four match points but also to win the title in a 90-minutes finals.

Sania winning the title game has 60 ITF points and would be moving in the top 50 bracket in the world ranking. The first set went with serve till the seventh before the Swede broke Sania in the eighth and then served out and won the first set at 6-3. The Hyderabadi girl went in full steam and won the set by saving four match points and winning the marathon tie-breaker at 7-6(13-11).

In the third set 14-year-old 10th class student continued a winning streak and won the set and title at 6-3.
