LPG leak: Woman, husband suffer burns

BANGALORE, OCT. 10. Ms. Jayanthi and her husband, Mr. Ashok,
suffered severe burns in an explosion caused by an LPG leak in
their house at Bhuvaneshwarinagar in K.P.Agrahara Police Station
limits on Monday.
Police said the regulator of the gas cylinder in the kitchen of
the house was not turned off last night. The leaked gas was
ignited when Ms. Jayanthi tried to light the stove in the
morning. Her clothes caught fire, and when Mr. Ashok rushed to
her rescue, he also suffered burns.
The neighbours, who woke up on hearing cries for help from the
couple, informed police, and shifted them to hospital. They
suffered 70 per cent burns, and have been admitted to Victoria
hospital.
The walls of the house and the buildings on its rear side
suffered minor damage in the explosion.
Killed in mishap: Srinath of Subbayyanapalya was killed when his
motorcycle was knocked down by a Tempo van near the Raghavendra
Math in Banaswadi Police Station limits on Tuesday.
Mr. Ramanju, who was riding pillion, escaped with injuries.
Srinath was brought dead to hospital.
Chain snatched: Two robbers snatched away the gold chain of Ms.
Saikumari when she was taking a walk near the Mini Forest in
J.P.Nagar on Tuesday.
Police said she was alone when the incident occurred. The robbers
escaped on a two-wheeler.
Arrested: The K.P.Agrahara police arrested Ayubkhan, Allabaksh,
Jameel, and Nasurulla for allegedly murdering Safrunnisa in her
house on Sunday.
The accused allegedly committed the murder in front of her family
to avenge the ``dowry death'' of Ayubkhan's sister, who was
married to Safrunnisa's son.
The Yelahanka police arrested Chandra for allegedly murdering
Shankar of LBS Nagar in Yelahanka Satellite Town on October 5.
The accused took the victim out of his house, and stabbed him to
death.
The Vijayanagar police arrested Dayanand and Shankar of
Mudalapalaya, and reportedly recovered six two-wheelers allegedly
stolen by them.
The Rajagopalanagar police arrested Rajesh, alias Dharmaraj, and
Ramesh, and claimed to have recovered a gold chain and eight
bicycles stolen by them.
