Gurupeyarchi

ALL ROADS LEAD to the shrine of Dakshinamurthy with the transit of Jupiter about to happen. Gurupeyarchi is being observed with special rituals at temples. The temple at Tiruvotriyur is no exception.

A specialty of this abode, which is adjacent to the Tyagarajaswamy temple, is that the Lord of Wisdom here faces the North instead of the South. That is because He is offering wise counsel to Vadivudaiamman and is facing her shrine.

The huge deity has a serene countenance radiating knowledge. There is a shrine for a six-foot panchamukha vinayaga seated on the lion mount.

The temple is gearing to receive thousands of devotees on June 30 when special pujas will be formed.
