Easy rider: Sathyaraj and Namita in "Englishkaaran" ...
After the successful `Ennamma Kannu' and `Maha Nadigan,' the Shakti Chidambaram-Satyaraj team is at it again.
Chidambaram who had helmed the films with his story, dialogue and direction, takes up production for the first time.
Called `Englishkaaran' with the sarcastic tagline, `Thamizh Vaazhga' attached, the film stars Satyaraj and Namita as the lead pair. Namita plays a sports aspirant, while her sister (played by Madhumita) wants to become a playback singer.
Vadivelu who teamed up with Satyaraj to create rip-roaring fun in "Ennamma Kannu" joins the hero again.
Deva, who is the composer of `Englishkaaran,' appears as himself in a minor role. Having had a taste of Shakti Chidambaram's mischievous and intelligent humour in all his flicks, including `Charlie Chaplin' (again a hit) and `Kadhal Kirukkan,' which did not do too well, comes `Englishkaaran.'
It is a story of a pretentious hero who tries to impress people with his half-baked knowledge of the English, should provide enough enjoyment for the fun-loving filmgoer.
The unit has just returned after a 25-day shooting stint at Gobichettipalayam.
"Another fortnight of shooting in Chennai and we should wrap up," a unit member informs.
