    Nine-member team to represent India in World Junior Athletics

    New Delhi (PTI): Under the guidance of legendary runner P T Usha, a strong nine-member athletics team will represent India at the IAAF World Junior Athletics Championships at Bydgoszcz, Poland from July 8 to 13.

    Middle distance runner M R Poovamma from Karnataka will be India's biggest hope in the women's section, while promising high jumper Lakshmanan Yogiraj is the best bet in the men's category.

    The Indian team will leave for Poland on Sunday.

    The Team:

    Men: Jithin Paul (400m Hurdles); Shejil Verghese (400m Hurdles); Lakshmanan Yogiraj (High Jump); Jasdeep Singh Dhillon (Shot Put).

    Women: M R Poovamma (400m; 4x400m); Simon Rajam Bindhu (800m; 4x400m); Chinchu Jose (4x400m); Jauna Murmu (4x400m), Tintu Luka (800m; 4x400m).

    Coach: P T Usha; Manager: Suresh Babu.
