Sunny hues for the monsoon
It's raining colours at The Green Shop.
DON'T LET the rains get you down this monsoon. Step into The Green Shop on Commercial Street and brighten up your day. The store has just launched its Monsoon Collection that contains some bright and sunny hues by various designers from across the country.
The Green Shop houses designerware by eminent names in designing such as Vina Dilip, Indira Patil, Shaheen Khan, Mansoor Hussain, Jole, Bhavna Shastri, and Niloufer. The range is marked by exceptionally bright colours. The range of salvar suits includes tussars by Jole, jute silks by Vina Dilip, short kurtas by Indira Patil, cottons with heavy embroidery by Niloufer, besides a wide range of cottons with block prints and mirror work.
Says Junaid Mahmood, who runs the store: "Every piece is unique here. If you pick up one, you won't find another like it again." For this collection, Junaid has specially asked the designers to bring what is affordable, costing between Rs. 750 and Rs. 850 on an average. The only exceptions are Niloufer's suits, which have exclusive embroidery and are priced around Rs. 3,000. However, even these are really worth picking up simply because each kurta, salvar, and duppatta is uniquely crafted and is different from anything one would find anywhere. Some in-house designs, such as hand-embroidered sets priced Rs.1,000 upwards, are also part of the collection.
A window shopper's delight.
The Green Shop, which claims to get new designs every week, has a range of bright combinations in cotton, be it bright pink and white, yellow and purple, or orange and black. Besides this, there are dresses neatly lined up according to shades starting from pastels to maroons, blues, greens, blacks, and purples.
For those who are not looking at readymades, the store has an exhaustive collection of dress material in cotton, Kanchi silk, handlooms, Banarasi silk, crepe, synthetic, jute, linen, hakoba, or brasso. The eveningwear in Tanchoi and hakobas are particularly pretty. Hakobas are available in crepe, satin, and cotton. Jute silk pieces with Bhagalpuri duppattas can be picked up for Rs. 900, while the crepe suits begin at Rs. 600. The georgette hakobas are very attractive at Rs. 1,900.
The Monsoon Collection will be available at The Green Shop for a month. The store plans to add many more designers to its portfolio. The Green Shop can be contacted on 5597654.
