On the tele-front

Coming to Tamil serials' front, `more' is surely not `merrier'. Like films, many of them have similar storyline and star casts too. Particularly those that have been running for a long time (almost two years) are proving staid and monotonous, `Alaigal' being a slight exception. The director has somehow managed to keep the viewers' interest alive by providing new twists and turns to his soap opera. And much of the success of the serial goes to Venu Arvind's sterling performance, portraying the negative shades of the character, Ranga, with a natural flair. While in `Agnisakshi' on Vijay TV he plays a positive role with equal ease. But now the actor wants to try his hand at comedy too. Are the serial makers listening?
