Dim Sum fest
Ever tried a meal with Chinese starters. Well, hotel Green Park had recently organised a 10-day festival called the Dim Sum Promo. The idea was to promote ethnic Chinese starters among the Vizagites.
"Dim Sum, which is an ethnic cuisine from China like Szechwan but generally regarded as an appetizer cuisine. It can also be had as a light meal and the Chinese usually have it between their breakfast and lunch. This cuisine is now finding a place on the breakfast table in the west," says the general manager of the hotel, Madhu Nair.
"The cuisine is light in nature and can be digested easily. It is basically categorised into two divisions; the steam division, where the food is steamed and served and shallow fried division. The food should be served hot and steaming along with homemade sauces to get the right flavour and taste," informed the executive chef of the hotel, Lalit Bhatnagar.
The hotel prepared a mix of both non-vegetarian and vegetarian Dim Sum dishes like seafood and mushroom Dim sum, mixed meat Dim Sum, lamb and bamboo shoots Dim Sum, Szechwan vegetables and rice Dim Sum and mushroom in soya Dim Sum.
All the Dim Sums were served in cane baskets in true Chinese style with lot of exotic sauces. .
