KEY to success
FOR SOMEONE who started out as a rank newcomer, Bhavana seems to be doing quite well for herself. "When I joined the film industry, I didn't have any expectations," says Bhavana. Currently, she is on a high. Three of her films are slated for release in the coming months - `Elakal Pacha, Pookal Manja', `Parayaam' and `Youth Festival'.
She is shooting for director Rajesh R. Pillai's `Hridayathil Sookshikyaan'. Bhavana shares screen space with Kunchacko Boban and Nithya Das in the film. Adds the actress: "I'm having a blast on the location." The six reasons that Bhavana attributes to her success in films are:
God's grace: I owe my success to God's grace.
Luck: I count myself lucky that most of my films have done well. I am grateful to director Kamal for having cast me in his film, `Nammal'. My role as Parimalam in that film gave me the big break. As a newcomer, I couldn't have asked for more.
Roles: The role of Parimalam endeared me to the audiences in a way I'd never even imagined in my wildest dreams. Though mine was a deglamourised role, I gave it my best shot and it worked.
Looks: In the Malayalam film industry, looks do not play a major role unlike in Bollywood. I do not consider myself glamorous and feel I would not have succeeded if I didn't have it in me to become an actress.
Talent: I believe what matters most is one's ability to portray a role with conviction. As I said, looks do play a definite role. Yet, to succeed one requires the right mix of talent and looks.
Dance: Most people think I can't perform classical dance. Probably, it is because they have seen me doing only the run-of-the mill numbers. Actually, I've trained in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattom. But I'm yet to get a role that requires me to perform a classical dance.
