Fashion riot
STRIP, THE two level fashion store at Nagarjuna Hills was rather full last Sunday. Bite sized morsels and colas did rounds as local celebrities, most of them the look-at-me kinds, swooned in by drones for the soiree fashion show that showcased Manish Malhotra, the diffusion line from the haute designer who was here in person to witness the event. "It is surprising to see the kaftans and tees doing well here," observed the designer.
The brief event showcased the line, ponchos, tees teamed with flattering skirts and more, this time by the socialites in the twin cities who were sport enough to walk the ramp. "Who wouldn't want to model in a Manish Malhotra. But honestly the women are style icons in their own way and achievers -- jewellery designer, lawyer, actress and more," says Rohit Reddy of Strip about Minal Challani, Chaya, Disha, Anu Kirthi and the star of the evening Shriya Saran who walked the ramp.
"I liked the candy pink sari as well the ensemble I chose for the show," said Shriya about her black skirt and printed poncho ensemble. "I would love to have him doing clothes for my next film," she added. Talking about his forthcoming celluloid magic Veer-Zaara,
"it has a lots of whites and colour in the typical Yash Chopra style. We have tried creating a dream world, so. The salwars look pretty good and might just be the trend this Diwali," he says. One look at this Yash Raj film promo, Priety Zinta and Rani Mukherjee alike, and you know why Manish is the demi god when it comes to draping the blockbusters.
Also, Farhad and Rohit showcased new additions, a hip party collection, to the existing Manish's men line at the store. With the number of orders pouring in, most of them on the day before the show when the lines were showcased, it has been a sell out.
