PEOPLE FAIL to realize that they are not in a relationship to show who is better or superior, but to try and find happiness in the togetherness that marital bliss is.
Anjani Kumar, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Guntur Range, and his better half, Vasundhara Sinha, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax Department, can easily claim a top slot in the list of couples that have made the best of their lives in each other's companionship. The DIG and the IT Commissioner complement each other in a way that likenesses and differences, if there are any, are balanced out.
Dodging the demons at work could be a Herculean task. But, an immaculate performer and a consummate professional that Anjani Kumar is, he has been putting his best foot forward ever since he joined the police services.
Flaunting his skills at the right time and at the right place has enabled him to handle responsibility with alertness that has won hearts.
Perfect ambience
A refreshing chat that never seemed enough went on amidst the soft music in the background that lent a romantic touch to the relaxed ambience of `Dastarkhan', the place getting popular with the visitors during the ongoing Mughlai festival at Quality D.V Manor.
Relishing the vegetable clear soup, chicken crisp rolls, butter naans, sabji mili-juli and a couple of mughlai chicken delicacies, the couple appeared greatly at ease sharing its experiences.
Though his posting to Guntur makes it mandatory for the couple to live apart, they know the knack of living life to the fullest. Blessed with two sons, Ayushman and Arish, whose sprightly gestures keep them on the tenterhooks, the couple couldn't have asked for more in life. Ayushman, a seventh class student, is outspoken while his younger sibling, Arish, is calm and composed. Chipping in to endorse or oppose his father's views on various issues ranging from politics to IPS to their memorable tour to Bosnia, Ayushman made it a point to grab every possible chance to air his opinion which, most of the time, made sense.
There would be no schools on the surface of the earth if Ayushman had his way. "I hate schools," he declares in no uncertain terms. Arish is relatively quiet clinging to mama's pallu most of the time and choosing very few words to reply queries posed to him. Vasundhara liked Switzerland the most, while Anjani Kumar could not figure out anything as the best of what he has seen. To him, everything in Europe seemed fascinating.
Cooking skills
A product of 1990 IPS batch, the amount of information Anjani Kumar soaks up and retains in his mind constantly mesmerizes you while Vasundhara's extremely cultured persona leaves an indelible impact. Hailing from an agricultural background, the decision to don khaki robes and weild a lathi could not have been an easy one.
"Myself and my brother were the first in the family to opt for education. My father's happiness knew no bounds when he first saw me in the uniform," he fondly recalls.
"She is a good cook", he compliments the cookery skills of Vasundhara who is quick to point out how fussy he is at the dining table. What are the vegetables he likes? "Ask him what he doesn't because the list far exceeds the ones he relishes," she interrupts. She gave up her favourite pastime of singing at Anjani's instance, if not insistence.
Realising the need to activate their intellect, the couple has been stoking the fire of their zeal to get back to work with renewed energy to give their best to their professions.
