Whatever be the choice of food, there is something for everybody under one roof, says PRATHIBHA PARAMESWARAN.

AFTER A tiring train journey complete with hassles of heavy luggage, one's thought unknowingly goes to having some warm good food.
Alighting at the Tiruchi Junction, one no longer has to search hard for a good joint to relax. The new food plaza of the IRTC tucked in a corner of an entrance, wears an inviting shiny look. Enticing it is. And a famished person will surely be drawn to the mouth-watering variety in vegetarian and non-vegetarian available at the counter. Whatever be the choice of food - South or North Indian, Chinese or just a sip of cool fresh juice, there is something for everybody under one roof.
The Chinese non-vegetarian dishes made by Neethu's Kitchen at present, has already found its way into the hearts of many non-vegetarian buffs. Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Biriyani are all time hot shots.
The Chettinad Chicken masala, chicken moghalai, crab masala and scrambled crabs add to the variety in the delicious menu. Breakfast of cornflakes with milk in the morning, besides a variety of snacks in the afternoon and the special soups are also available.
Vegetarians need not despair for there is plenty for them too. Steaming hot dosas, idlis, pongal, puri, rava dosa, oothappam, vadas, parotta or the rice varieties made with tamarind, tomato, coconut, lemon or curd rice...name it and you have it! Just in case you are in a hurry and need to grab a parcel of your favourite vegetable noodles, it is all there too -- waiting in a neatly packed casserole.
Says project manager S.R. Mahendran: "Most people go for fast food as they are in a hurry." For the health-conscious ones, there is the Rishni juice stall offering 40 varieties of juices apart from a few flavours of ice creams.
"Even doctors from the city drop in at times to have a glassful of juice," beams Mr. Mahendran, of course not forgetting to mention the exotic Lebanese shake prepared with dates and malt health drink powder.
The "Van Pep" a drink made with a carbonated soft drink and vanilla ice cream is equally sought after. Anybody with a sweet tooth will not be able to walk past the Adyar Anand Bhavan sweet stall without tasting a `Milk Peda' or a `Mysore paak' dripping with ghee. The sweet fragrance wafting in the air is too much to resist.
"Tiruchiites relish all kinds of sweets," says Mr. Mahendran. "All we do is offer them a variety to choose from."
With its economic prizes, the plaza caters to people from all walks of life. Opened barely a fortnight ago, the eat-out centre has created quite an impression among the travelling public. If not for a real good meal, even a cup of coffee in the cool ambience is just the welcome treat for most.
