ALL ASPIRING models, listen. Britannia has announced the Gladrags Megamodel and Manhunt Contest 2005 to be held on April 2 in Mumbai.

For the first time in the history of any Indian beauty pageant, Gladrags will be flying all the selected contestants to Mauritius for training and selection. The 20 men and women finalists will return to Mumbai after a week for the finals.

Sony TV will air a reality style series on Maureen Wadia and the contest. The selections are on till February 28 in various metros. The unique feature of the contest is that one can "walk in" during the selection process and perhaps walk away as a winner. It has happened before when Muzamil Ibrahim, the winner of the Manhunt Contest 2003, walked in for the selection at Delhi and then went on to win the final contest that year.

All Gladrags models go through gruelling training. They are taught etiquette, dancing, career management, nutrition, physical training, dancing, make-up and diction.

Previous winners of the Gladrags Mega Model Contest include Lara Dutta, Aditi Govitrikar, Koena Mitra, Deepti Gujral and Amita Hotkar. Previous winners of the Gladrags Manhunt Contest include Kelly Dorjee, Rajat Bedi, Amar Upadya, Dino Morea, Zulfi Syed, John Abraham, and Hrishant Goswami.

Apart from the gifts and prizes that the winners receive, they also get an opportunity to represent India at several international pageants such as the Manhunt International, Top Model of the World, Best Asian Face Contest, Miss Intercontinental Contest, Mega Model of the World Contest and Miss Tourism International over the course of the year.
