A taste of heaven
INTERCONTINENTAL THE Grand celebrates a Kashmiri food festival till March 30 at its 24-hour restaurant, Rendezvous. The restaurant offers authentic Kashmiri food at a buffet priced at Rs.800 with additional taxes, for lunch or dinner. The buffet contains 36 traditional Kashmiri dishes.
The aroma of Kashmiri food greets one right from the restaurant entrance, thanks to the spices said to have been specially brought from Kashmir for the festival. Though traditional Kashmiri food is rich in spices, at Rendezvous the food is not very spicy as the tastes of Delhiites and non-Indians have been kept in mind. Shikaras add to the Kashmiri ambience, as do the waiters dressed in Kashmiri kurtas.
Chef Waza Noor Mohammad hails from Kashmir and has a team of Kashimri cooks to whip up the festival fare. This includes some mouth-watering delicacies, which are essentially meat based. The Yakhni and achari meatballs are a must-try for the non-vegetarians. Other favourites are rogan josh, biryani and tabak mass. Among the vegetarian offerings are the various chaman or cottage cheese dishes.
And then, not to be forgotten is the famous Kashmiri kahwa, a delightful drink with a heavenly taste.
