REAL-LIFE TALES Sudha Murty pens a must-read book
She is humbler than you expect. She dresses more simply than you can imagine. Interact with her and you almost forget that you are sitting in front of the woman who helped to create Infosys, one of the world's leading corporate houses today.
The lady in question, Sudha Murty released her book, Wise and Otherwise: A Salute to Life recently.
The book is an autobiographical account, showcasing 50 vignettes of the myriad shades of human nature. It is matter-of-fact without being judgmental.
Real life experiences
Speaking of the book, Sudha recounts, "The book has real-life experiences from different parts of India. Thanks to the Infosys Foundation (established in 1997) I have had the opportunity to interact with people and reach out to them on a scale like none other." Having penned over 20 novels, along with various technical books, she claims to be, "a very sensitive writer, constantly recording incidents in memory".
A passionate book lover, Murty prefers non-fiction to fiction. Acclaimed for her children's writing, she says, "Non-fiction is not a figment of imagination, it is drawn from real life and is thus away from the fantastic, therefore it helps to guide the next generation."
She feels, "An awareness of the existence of the positive and negative in equal quantities in life, and to celebrate the positive over the negative, should be inculcated in children so that they can look at the bright side of life."
Her strength, she says, is "compassion", and it is this trait that makes her new book and others a must-read.
