The music programme in memory of Mohammed Rafi will be held on July 31

Mehboob Memorial Orchestra, Kochi, and Doordarshan will present Rafi Nite ’08, and evening of music dedicated to the legendary Mohammed Rafi on July 31 at the Nehru Memorial Town Hall, Mattancherry, at 7 p.m.
It was on a rainy evening of July 31, 1980, that Rafi, who had returned after recording for Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s ‘Aas Paas,’ passed away following a massive heart attack. For the past 28 years Mehboob Memorial Orchestra has been organising a musical homage, incorporating Rafi’s immortal songs.
This year ten singers, Azad, Afsal, Sadiq, Kishore Abu, Rafique, Junior Mehboob, Elizabeth Raju (Kochi), Fahad (Kozhikode), Mohammed Rafi (Thiruvananthapuram) and Saritha Rehman (Malappuram) will bring alive the memory of Mohammed Rafi.
A 20-piece orchestra will be led by noted musician and composer Murali.
